Full text of a paper written for the UNFPA Country Support Team for East and Central Africa. It deals with the 13 countries covered by that Team: namely Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria, Chad, Central African Republic, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia and Eritrea. The paper addresses issues such as: population and natural resources, main environmental issues in the region, population aspects of environmental issues and policies, land degradation and its factors and regional patterns of land degradation. Tables of some of these topics are included. |
